My teens want to go thrifting. Any recommendations for a place with both women’s and men’s clothing? |
I saw a cool teen the other day saying she came to Mt Rainier (I know it’s Maryland but barely) to go to Mike’s thrift shop. I have no idea if it’s actually good.
If they’re also into healthy food and stuff, it might be worth the trip because you can also go to Glut across the street, which is a funky old co-op grocery. |
It’s not in DC but I like the Unique and Valu Vilkage in Hillandale, it’s just off the beltway. They’re next to each other. If you take a donation you get a 20% coupon.
Mon and Thurs are 25% off. |
My teen goes to the Georgetown flea market on Sundays. The Arlington goodwill is pretty good too. |
Mine like Value Village on University Blvd. right outside of College Park. It's huge. |
Any Unique Thrift or Value Village is the right answer. Nothing else comes even close. |
Right!! I’m the PP that posted about the one in Hillandale. I’ve tried other places, they’re not even close. I like how everything is super well organized by size and gender. |
The Unique in Wheaton is terrible. |
These look great -- thank you! |
GA Ave thrift and the DC Goodwill are also frequently good (although smaller). I like the thrift store by the Checkers in Riverdale. |
I hit GA Ave Thrift a lot because it is an incredibly easy place to donate. It is solid. My teens like Unique best - not sure which one they go to. For me - I like Secondi in Dupont. |
My teen just went to Uptown Cheapskate in College Park today and said it was really nice with a lot of selection. |
Like picking? Sorting through lots of trash to find treasure? That's Unique or Goodwill. Buying from a curated collection of pre-loved clothing? I like Wardrobe Rescue in Vienna. |
It depends what they want. If it's ironic 80s and 90s tees, Value Village and Goodwill. If they want elite luxury brands at a discount, consignment shops in Alexandria. I have seen both kinds of thrifting hyped on Tiktok, which I'm guessing is what's driving DCs. |
Goodwill on Glebe in Arlington
Poshmark if you want something specific and don’t want to dig through the racks. |
