So many acting principals

Nearly half of the new principals are in acting appointments. I don't recall there being so many before.

And why is Debra Mugge coming out of retirement to return to Wheaton as acting principal?

This is because so many principals got moved around so late in the year. The vetting process for admin is different after a June 30. Seems like a shady way for CO to bypass any checks and balances built into the usual process for hiring principals.

Also, many of these acting principals were supposed to just be principal interns and then their mentor got moved at the end of June.

I've noticed a decline in the quality of principals as both a staff member and a parent. Administration aren't getting the supervision and training they need to be in these very tough leadership positions...and we've seen how that's worked out lately...

Also, there have been principals or central office people who took leadership positions in other districts rather late (May/June) causing some of the late shuffling.

He was assigned to WJ before the DUI.

His relocation came a good while after the wrestling issue was closed, I don't believe that played a role.

My child is a student at WHS. We have received 3 emails in 2 years that he was on extended leave. It is unfair of me or anyone to speculate as to why he was on leave. However, my child shared it is widely known by students that he has smelled of alcohol during the school day and at games numerous times. Then the demotion and now the most recent alcohol related issue. Where there is smoke, there is fire.. I pray he gets the help he needs.

Then why simply place him at a different school?

Never mind. That is MCPS. Just move ‘em around and cover up.
