When you’re done w Bob Books

Anonymous
What books did your very early reader like? DS can fly through Bob books and other level 1 readers but struggles w level 2 because he still needs to sound words out and many of these are not phoenetic. I am struggling to find something based in phonics that he can read on his own and not be done in 40 seconds.

If you are looking for a true phonics books source, Pioneer Valley Books are amazing. Teachers at our school use them and you can select sets for the exact reading level your child is at. Stories and characters are adorable, and quality of the books is great.

My daughter transitioned from Bob to Dr. Seuss early readers (Green Eggs and Ham and Red Fish Blue Fish). She also read Biscuit, Gossie books and Elephant and Piggie. From there, she started picking up her favorite picture books - those were more challenging— and simple chapter books. Be aware that some of those early readers are a pain to read - like Pinkalicious.

Hello ,
does any one of you would like to sell/give away reading books for level1. My little one is joining elementary and would like to have some used reading books.
Thank you

Agree with the above suggestions. We also found the small leveled readers helpful - shorter stories so easier to finish with readers with short attention spans.

You can take a look at the pictures from reviewers to get a better sense of the level for each if you don't have your DCs reading level from school.

Not what you asked, and we do read some of the other books recommended, but we found the Reading Eggs app on the iPad to be really good for phonics. We are doing a lesson a day on Reading Eggs plus one easy book.
