I am applying for expedited service for travel in March, just in case, given the lengthy delays. Will submitting at a passport acceptance facility speed things up in any way? Or will they just be putting it in the mail too? The passport acceptance facility charges a $35 fee, so if there is no advantage, I might as well mail it, right? |
| If you are renewing a currently valid adult passport that isn't lost/stolen, and aren't doing the emergency processing, you have to renew by mail. It's in the instructions on the web page |

Correct. You don’t have a choice. For kids, you must go in person, however. |
