Routine maintenance checks in attics without flooring

Anonymous
Is this a thing we should be doing or be paying someone to do (annually)? If so, who would be the right type of person? Our attic is very treacherous given the complete lack of flooring and fiberglass flooring.

What maintenance checks do you need? My roofer went on the roof, never in the attic.

I have owned three houses and never done this. If there are squirrels living up there, you’ll know.

OP here. Thinking for leaks or animals. Unnecessary?

Just poke your head up and shine a flashlight around.

Be careful going in there. I know three people who fell though as there was loose or inadequate flooring.

OP here - yes, I posted here because neither of us are comfortable walking up there. I meant fiberglass insulation, not flooring.

If there’s no flooring, you CANT walk around up there. You have to step on the joists only.

People fall through because they step on the ceiling drywall.

OP again. I know that! Teetering on joists is what I meant by treacherous. I am well aware that drywall cannot support a person walking on it.

The only time anyone went into our attic was when we needed a quote to add insulation.
