CR-V vs. Rav4? New or slightly used?

I'm interested in this type of small SUV but not too picky about which one, which trim, etc. They seem pretty similar to me, maybe the CR-V being a bit larger. Not looking for hybrid or EV. My main priority is getting good value. Ideally would like something 2-3 years old and low mileage, but only if it's a better value than new. Will be paying cash, thinking to look at Car Max or Carvana just for the ease of buying.

Any recent experience or views on prices? Or other vehicles to suggest that might fit the bill? Was also thinking about Hyundai or Kia but heard there are many issues with theft for some reason.

You can basically flip a coin with those options, but your should test drive each because I know people who really prefer the interior layout of one over the other (in each direction). Avoid Kia & Hyundai because pf the theft issue, but consider the cx-5 or one of the smaller Subarus for comparable vehicles.

you can get one of these used that was previously a rental. should be lots available.
