Subchorionic Hematoma

Anonymous
After a scary ER visit for bleeding I've been diagnosed with a large subchorionic hematoma that hemorrhaged. Baby is fine for now but my doctor suggested resting as much as possible. I just learned there have been some studies, which I'm going to ask my doctor about, suggesting taking alpha lipoic acid could help the hematoma to reabsorb, and am wondering if there are other treatment options I should be asking about.

If you know of any relevant studies or have personal experience with this diagnosis, I'd love to hear from you. I'm trying to stay hopeful and learn more about this condition.

I had this years ago with my first, end of first tri, very scary but resolved on its own in a week.

I had one of these at about 16 weeks. She just turned 6!

Take it as easy as you can and best wishes!

I had one at 6 weeks with my last pregnancy. I was seeing an RE at the time so they were being super careful, and I was told the only thing to do was take it easy (including pelvic rest for a while). Baby is now 3.5 months and perfectly fine.

I had one at about 8 weeks and my DS is 9 years old now. It was such a scary time but it thankfully resolved. Rest and relax your mind as much as you can. Be well!
