When you have people over for dinner, do you always serve dessert?
I probably do about 1/2 the time. I’m thinking about it because I’m hosting tomorrow and have a first and second course, but no dessert. I can do something easy, like peaches and ice cream or olive oil cake with raspberries and whipped cream, but it just doesn’t seem necessary. Just curious as to what others do, not really looking for suggestions. |
We don’t always have dessert, but we do if we invite guests.
If I have guests over, I always offer dessert. Sometimes more elaborate, but at least good ice cream or sorbet.
Yes, yes we do.
With guests yes...could be just a box of nice chocolates if you don't have extra time.
Yes, of course. Even just ice cream or chocolates or something store-bought, but you have to offer something.
Yes - a cake or pie from a nice bakery (I don't bake).
Ok - I'll offer something. I actually dislike it when people have dessert when I'm invited over because I don't generally like sweets and don't want the calories but feel obliged, but I can easily serve something and just have a small portion myself. Thanks!
You're not entertaining yourself. You're entertaining guests. |
This is why I always keep frozen cream puffs in the freezer. Pop them out to thaw during dinner and dessert is ready.
I do affogatos and biscotti.
Fruit and whipped cream on the side would accommodate |
Key lime pie. It’s so quick and easy to make and feels so fancy.
If I invite guests for dinner, i always have dessert. It’s kind of a special occasion.
I always have something available for dessert for guests. However, it can be awkward if they don't like sweets and seem to want to take a tiny bite to just show they ate it. But no obligation! In summer, I usually like offering fruit and a pie or cake with ice cream.
