My kids don't eat any food from their school cafeteria so we don't put any money in their lunch accounts.
However, a few times a year, we were charged by error and received invoices. I happily paid for somebody else's meals by sending checks (only a few dollars). Now, I am getting tired of this process and thinking of just putting some money in their accounts so I don't have to receive invoices and write checks. Are these errors common? Do you pay for the meals you know your kids didn't eat or do you dispute? |
| Very common. They use a pin so if the kid puts in the wrong pin it happens. I usually email the school. |
| I don’t know if it’s common or uncommon, I’ve never heard of it happening before. I have three kids and it’s never happened to me. I have elementary through high school. We also don’t buy school lunch so I would know if I had a negative balance. |

Never happened to me. Do your kids know their PIN (Mine don't).
Could your kids be getting school food for self or another? Or told their PIN to someone? |
They don't know their PIN. They don't go near the cafeteria food because they are picky eaters. |
| You might ask Jeff to edit your title because it’s not a meal program but more like mis-charged account balances. |
