| I've never owned mules. I always assumed they'd slip off when I walk. Years ago I found ballet flats hard to walk in and I always assumed that mules would be worse. But I've been seeing mules everywhere lately and many of them look great. I was thinking of trying a pair but before I spent the $ I'd love to hear from personal experience. I know people will tell me to just go to the store and walk around in a pair, but I've given away so many shoes over the years that felt okay in the store only to bother me a few weeks later. So I thought I'd ask: are mules easy to walk in (in an office environment)? What if you work on a large campus and need to walk a decent distance from your car to your desk? |
| Not comfortable, and they make a terrible slapping sound on your feet in the office. |
Thank you! |
| Horrible to walk in, agree with the slapping sound and hard to keep on IMO. |
| Hate them. I have to curl my toes to keep them on. Annoying |
| I can't keep them on my feet. |
Ah, this was my experience with ballet flats. Thank you. You saved me a trip to the mall. |
| this thread reminds me of the time we had a fire drill and my coworker fell down the stairs because she was trying to shuffle down in her gucci mules and she fell out of them. |
Oh wow, hope she, and everyone else, was ok. The shoes are ridiculous. Even sitting they fall off your feet. |
| Other than my running sneakers, I only wear mules (shoes with no straps on the back). I've never had them fall off, or tripped over my shoes. I slide my feet in and off I go |
You are a bona fide unicorn! |
| I hate them. I have to curl my toes to prevent them from slipping off and then my feet ache. |
| They’re fine for me and don’t slip off in the office BUT I would never wear them if I were going to walk a long distance carrying a bag of any notable size, because that weight will make them problematic I’m sure |
| My Gucci mules don’t fall off, the leather really seems to stick to your feet and it’s made high enough that it doesn’t slap, unless you buy them too large. They’re pretty comfortable but not really padded like loafers. I like them. |
| I always assumed mules sucked for all the reasons people have mentioned. But I came across a pair at a high end thrift store while on vacation and was surprised to find that they stay on comfortably and I don’t have to squeeze my toes to hold onto them. They do slap noisily when walking, but I kinda like it. |
