I'm looking to take a personal loan for around 25k
I can apply on the web with my credit union, but got to thinking that they may not offer the best rates. A quick google search pulls up dozens and dozens of possible lenders and it's quite overwhelming. TIA |
| If a fed- TSP @ 4% |
| I'm a Veteran, but not a fed so no TSP. |
| In a 7% mortgage interest environment you’re not getting a low interest personal loan. |
| Understood, but I'm still trying to secure the best rate I can. Is that going to be with a credit union, a large bank like boa or wells fargo or something I'm not yet aware of? |
| Borrow against securities in your brokerage account. |
Are you referring to a 401k loan? |
If you don’t know what this person means, this does not apply to you. I think you are likely to get better rates through a credit union than you are a “big name” bank. |

Heloc is another option, but takes more time. I wouldn’t borrow against 401k unless there’s no other options. Personal loan rates will be high though. I know that credit karma has sometimes tried to sell me on personal loans for whatever reason. I actually tried their tool out of curiosity and they maxed out at 15k even though I have an 800+ score and plenty of assets of all sorts. |

Just tried credit karma and there are a lot of offers and can borrow 100k or more.
Discover personal loans for 25k and 36 months rates were 8% |

That's why you work on having a great credit score, high credit card limit, and you take it out as cash advance. I just took $27k out @ 4% right now. I shouldn't have anything left to pay at the end of one year. I have more cash advance available to me.
