Anyone Retire at NJ Beach Area?

We plan to but are only in our 50s so we haven’t retired yet. Everyone in this thread will pile on about property taxes but you don’t need to be in a good school district, which many of the shore areas are not, plus the beach towns have beach badge revenue and lots of commercial activity which brings in taxes so the property taxes are not as bad as in the purely residential areas. We pay about $8K on a house worth about $1M, which isn’t a lot worse than we pay in Maryland for a house with a very similar value.

Yes, and if you are Over 65 and own for 10 years in the state, there is now a 50% property tax reduction up to $6500.

College friend who worked in law enforcement retired to Point Pleasant Beach, NJ in her early fifties and loves it. Has built a great community of friends.
