Question for MCPS teachers

I’m a fully certified veteran teacher. I recently finished an additional certificate through a local university and inquired of central office how to add it to my records. I was told that now only internal credits can be added by MCPS and I need to communicate with the State of MD. Has anyone else had this experience? If so, what did you do?

There’s a Maryland State Certification portal now. You manage all your own credits there now. I’ve uploaded PDFs of courses. It’s new, but was pretty straightforward to use.

If you're an mcps teacher, and you're just adding a certification area - mcps is the one who adds it through Marie Bercaw, we have a whole cert unit?

The cert unit is vastly understaffed. Took exactly 1 year for my revert paperwork to get processed and they were the hold up.

I added 2 certification areas and renewed one in the last 4 years, each one only took a few weeks, just have to have everything in order
