| My son was recently certified as a ref. It looks like he will be getting emails or signing up with various different assignors to have the ability to ref for various organizations? Is this complicated to follow and get assigned games? He knows soccer, but has ADHD, so I am really hoping this is not going to be complicated administratively. |
It can be a little overwhelming. Instead of signing up with an organization (CASRA, MWSRA), which will deluge him with emails, he might be better off finding one assignor that does leagues he's interested in reffing, and just dealing with that one assignor. That way he'll only need to sign up on one assigning website as well instead of a lot of them. If he's new, I'd suggest emailing Keyan Mohtashemi (don't want to post his email here, but it's public and should be easy to find) who assigns MSI. He's good to deal with, and is used to working with new refs. |
| DD got her certification last year. She went the organization route because she was wanted to find one that worked for her. She settled on a couple and picks and chooses which games she wants now |

I'm not sure if you live but in VA, but there are a few assignors that cover most travel games here.
Tarey Houston: She does all NCSL games. She does some EDP. Super Y. Some tournaments. She uses Game Officials to assign games. Game Officials is an online database where you can see all the games she available to assign. You can click through her games and "request" the game and then email her the game(s) you requested. If it's already taken, she will email you back. If it's not taken, you will get an email saying to go into game officials and accept the game(s). Once you accept the games, you will get an email reminder that your game is coming up a few days out. She also sends out emails the week before to everyone who is in her group with games available that weekend. You will also receive emails of last minute games. She's great. Very responsive if you have issues. Gte direct deposit through Game Officials. Sharon Deplitch: Her husband is like the Referee in chief in VA I think. Sharon assigns Rec/SFL for Springfield and Herndon but also a lot of EDP, adult leagues, and tournaments (such as Dulles and Virginian. She uses Game Officials as well. Same as Tarey. Get direct deposit through Game Officials. Jesse Rosenthal: Assigns some EDP, most if not all ECNL except for Loudoun I think, ECNL-R, GA, Super Y. He uses email to announce games to everyone on his list and, once you email him back, he then assigns it through Game Officials. You can't see what games he has in advance. He also assigns several tournaments. Icebreaker is one. Pays by check. Matt Grier: assigns for Alexandria, so GA (are they still in GA?), EDP, and many Alexandria tournaments. He uses GotSoccer or Got Sport or something. Pays by PayPal. As for more assignors, just contact your rec club and ask who the assignor is and you can get on their list. If you do these assignors, you will have PLENTY of opportunities to ref and plenty of email in your inbox! Good Luck. |
Thanks, this is very helpful info. We've tried to get him connected with the Alexandria rec assignor so far, with no response, so it is great to have other POCs for other organizations as well. |
