Rome

We will be in Rome for the day in early November. We plan on arranging a private tour for the day. We have been to Rome before and done the major sites (Colosseum, Vatican, pantheon, Trevi, etc..).

We are looking for suggestions for places to see and things to do besides the major well known sites. Also any great restaurant recommendations for lunch also. Thanks.

DH and I did an e-bike tour of the Appian Way, the Catacombs, and the Roman Aqueducts. Meet up around 9AM and back around 3PM. It was a fantastic way to see a different part of the city, as well as some other Roman historical sites more off the beaten path. We booked through the Red Bicycle tour company. We all stopped along the way for lunch. It was at an open-air market, with a family style picnic with pasta, salad, bread, wine, etc. There was even sparkling water on tap. It was a highlight of our recent trip to Rome!

If Dan-El Tavernae is open for lunch- go there! We found it on a whim seeking shelter from a rain storm and it was so great we went back to next night too. It's owned and run by a dad/daughter team, so cosy, and by far the best food we had in Rome.

We took a short train ride to Villa d’Este in Tivoli.
