Swim break / conditioning in August?

So summer swim just ended at the end of July, so no more practice. It's only been one week, but DCs (elementary ages) are climbing the walls for lack of more exercise, friends are all out of town, we're not doing camp, etc.

Winter club doesn't start until the week after Labor Day. So essentially 6 weeks without swim practice. Obviously they're not going to forget how to swim, but does anyone have any productive ideas for conditioning in the meantime other than me making them swim laps at our sadly quiet summer pool? Me making them swim laps is not likely to end well (hahaha!).

If you just want them to exercise so they’re not climbing the walls why don’t you just take them to the pool to play? Take friends if you have space in the car?
Or go hiking, or to sky zone, or to Greenbrier lake, there are plenty of ways for them to burn energy.
My kid loves swimming but it’s nice to have August off.

Sign them up for sports camps.

My club swimmer hikes, runs and bikes during the break. We live very close to the pool she practices at so she will probably start going 1-2x a week with some of her teammates in mid-late August. They take turns bringing sets for everyone to do. While we are on vacation she swims in the ocean. All told she will be out of the pool for about a month (we are not MCSL or NVSL and our summer league ended July 22). It’s good for her to have that break.

Growing bodies need rest. A couple of weeks off is good, stay active. After two weeks, getting back in the pool a few times a week should suffice. Or running or rowing or something to keep the cardio up.

We did this and are going on a road trip vacation with plenty of walking every day.

Also, if anyone here has a Peloton bike/treadmill, you can create an account for your child to do different classes (many are just body weight).
