Is the Post Office cheaper than UPS?

You can check both online if you weigh and measure the box.

Probably but if you actually want it to get there I would. To trust USPS. I send stuff to my kids in college across the country all the time. I use UPS.

The cheapest way sometimes is to take with you as checked baggage, if you are flying out there. Depends on the ticket you were already going to purchase and if it comes with free checked baggage.

Fair enough. But when he moved out to go to university on the other coast, I figured out a work trip a few weeks before would let me take it for free with the free upgrade. It was not a problem to drop off at the residential office for storage.

My "most useless post" above has that in the link, along with details of sizing maximums and how to proceed. It's a good option.
