This just emphasizes Duran's priority focus on increasing central office administration staff. Why on earth does he need more office space when staff isn't even in the office full-time? And with offices closed and staff out for all those holidays, breaks, and leave?

Duran's gonna have a hard time justifying this one. So glad to see two SB members at least questioning this. They should ask for data re current office space occupancy (frequency, telework %ages, etc.)

Unbelievable. I’m a high school teacher who has to teach in four different classrooms. Maybe he should figure that out first? It directly impacts kids when I’m running from room to room.

Maybe they can put the planning staff at Nottingham.

While they're asking about the need for office space they should think about asking about all those paid holidays.

Unbelievable. Maybe they should use some of the gym space. Or the food service areas. Or the big, fancy and always empty lobbies.

From what I can tell, there aren’t too many people in the Syphax building during the workday as is. Surely they can work their space issues out?

Or maybe- stop hiring mangers, coordinators, directors, and specialists. Hire teachers, and make class sizes smaller.

This is getting ridiculous.

+1. More holidays, more space, more perks for the Syphax Jobs Program. Messed up priorities!

Don't just complain here. Go tell your school board members

The School Board already approved it. Despite all the praise for Kadera for asking "tough questions", she didn't show up for the vote. Everyone else voted in favor, except Reid.

I'm a teacher. This shows no one on the Board has ever been to Syphax in the middle of a workday, or they would have seen it is a ghost town. Most people are working from home, they're not in the schools. With teachers in the schools constantly sharing and shuffling through spaces, I think it would be very reasonable to ask the same of Syphax staff, but we know Duran's priorities.

APS teacher, too. I really liked Duran at first, but he has lost me with this. It’s not right.

Can’t wait for Melinda Turner to begin. She’s our best hope, along with Kadera.

Is there a date in the near future when the SB will vote on the extra paid holidays for Syphax?

+1. what's the point of having a board if all they do is rubber stamp any asinine request?
