| My mom is ready to give up her car now that she's in a retirement community. It's a fully loaded 2021 Subaru Crosstrek with less than 25K miles. I'm willing to do the work to sell it for her so she gets top dollar, as she's on a fixed income. I can comparison shop Carvana, Carmax, etc. but is it worth it to try to do a private sale on Craigslist or whatever's best these days? |
| I hate the hassle of private sales. Before offloading it it to Carmax, you might try posting it at work. Some employers provide a place for employees to offer goods for sale. A fellow employee might be more trustworthy than a random dude. |
I posted this earlier. You might also try your church, synagogue, etc. or any other group you’re a part of. |
| Thanks. This is OP. For what it's worth, since my mom still has a loan on the car, the private sale route isn't the way to go. I've gotten a lot of estimates from the various online services and Kelley Blue Book (for local dealers), and so far Driveway is rising to the top for the best offer and best company as far as I can tell from searching online reviews. |
