We are deciding between Children in the Shoe - BCC and Georgetown Hill in Bethesda.
Georgetown Hil- Bethesda seems nice, and I've heard good things about other Hill locations. However, I don't see any inspectional history for this location on the CheckCCMD website. I've heard great things about the Shoe, but the space seems a little tight. Would love feedback/advice! |
inspection results do not mean anything. Most times, it is very minor violations. |
This is absolutely untrue. The inspections demonstrate how the center handles the health and safety policies of the county. |
The inspection results are really lagging. Spring Knolls in Silver Spring had a bunch of violations in October 2022 including losing a child and none of it is online yet. This is supposed to be a resource for parents and unfortunately the Office of Child Care seems understaffed and incompetent. |
I was also interested in the school, but have had a hard time finding information. The only thing that I came across was a post on DC Urban moms in 2019 about an issue with the NRC location. It stated that a 17 month old was shook and recorded on video. This was very alarming to me! It made me a second guess the school completely. It also made me wonder the extent of the hiring process. |
On a particular day that the inspector decided to drop in....They mean something but they don't mean everything. |
DP Nothing means everything. I don't mind a couple of minor violations but a lot of minor violations screams mismanagement. And there are plenty of daycares with ratio violations, complaints that children were mistreated, neglected or left behind at the playground. Ignore the inspection data at your child's peril. |
We live in the town of Chevy Chase (right near both those daycares and Wonders at Leland). No one we knows goes to Georgetown Hill. I tried to get information from local listserves and DCUM and had no luck. We know lots of families happy with Wonders and the Shoe (both locations). I would personally choose one of those over Gtown Hill. |
