Cleaning eyeglasses

Anonymous
I'm new to wearing glasses. What's the best way to clean them? I have the soft cleaning cloths but they still look streaky after. I've tried premoistened wipes, which work well but seems pretty wasteful. I'm careful about not touching the lenses but can't seem to keep them clean.

glasses are like new cars. once you put it on, it will never look as good as when you first got it.

Liquid dish soap and warm water. Dry with paper towel or lint-free dish towel. I've been wearing glasses for 40+ years, and have never found a more reliable way.

I don't use papers due to tree fibers. Use cotton instead

Op here, what kind of cotton? Towel? Tee shirt? I thought things like that were bad. But yes, soap and water seem most effective, but also wasn't sure if that was damaging.

Long time glasses wearer here. I use whatever the material of the shirt I am wearing to clean them. Can't be bothered with any fancy or time consuming stuff/methods

Windex?

Get rubbing alcohol and dilute with water and put in a spray bottle. Wipe with a soft cloth and you can machine wash the cloths. This is what I was told by an optician.

I use paper towels because I have to pay for laundry. It’s all a balance I guess…$$, trees, water, energy…

Your glasses should have come with a microfiber cloth. Agree with dishsoap and warm water but paper towels can cause scratches. Do not use windex or alcohol.

I wash my microfiber wipes with soap every so often, while washing my hands.

Tiny bit of Dawn, rinse, dry with microfiber cloth.

I don't know what you mean. It's not about $. Wood fiber can scratch your lenses.
