MCPS Superintendent

Dr. McKnight is already going into Year 2 of her 4-year full-time Superintendent contract. Time flies. Hearing rumblings that she may try to angle for a State Superintendency or bigger role. Seems far away but any idea who could succeed her?

That seems farfetched. She's not going anywhere yet.

They are just getting into implementing stronger accountability of principals across the system (watch the last BOE meeting, which discussed this) and working the items on the anti-racist action plan. Dr. McKnight isn't going to leave before seeing more of that implementation take place.

Of course she will leave before anything is implemented. She is all talk and no data. If she stays there will be proof that she didn’t accomplish anything.

Not far away at all. State superintendent is being booted right now. Perfect timing.

I’m praying she leaves. I don’t care where she goes, but we need a new direction for the county.

I'd love your perspective on what your priorities for change would be.

I feel this has been said about all superintendents since Weast.

learn to tune it out. superintendents come and go and they always have their own agenda. end of the day, their plan has little to nothing to do with what your students need. she’s the fourth superintendent i’ve worked under and i’m struggling to even remember her name right now.

There are a lot of issues with implementation of the Blueprint, which set some unreasonable deadlines. https://www.marylandmatters.org/2023/07/25/no-decision-yet-from-state-board-of-education-on-superintendent-contract/

DP. Her obsession with the anti-racist action plan is a personal agenda item that was unnecessary. I'm hoping she leaves too.

She's so amazing! Definitely headed for bigger and better things.

The board has been pushing for anti-racist outcomes and equity since before she came.

Looking at school surveys at least 50% of teachers feel it has no impact. It doesn’t even get mentioned in my high school.

We need more accountability for students. It’s the biggest thing holding any initiative back right now.
