| If they provide three practice slots, require one and recommend 2 per week, can one go to three? Do they take attendance? DC may not be able to go to any practice in certain weeks due to his another sport, but may be able to go to 2 or even 3 in some weeks. TIA |
| I don't know the answer, but it sounds like maybe you heard back from them? If so, which location / age group? |
Yes, you get to pick which days. They do take attendance. Missing a week every now and again won't be a big deal but it may be if it's more routine... this was never an issue for us. If we knew we were going to miss a week, we would hit extra practices the week before and then again the week after. |
It seems that MLK is the only site that has sent out notifications? |
Thanks for the information! Glad to know that they are so flexible! |
| Generally at the low levels (minis etc) you can go to as many or as little as you want. Obviously the more you go the better your child will get, and that may lead to pathways into the more advanced groups than just the junior 1, depending on their performance etc. Once you get up into advanced juniors or NDG then you are making a commitment to the team to show up "X" times per week. Above groups are for MLK, other sites may have different names. |
Thank you! This is very helpful. |
| Yes, they take attendance. Usually they are flexible but if you can only go for once a week some weeks, why bother? |
| do you sign up in advance for which two of the three you'll be doing? or is it a free for all? |
Totally flexible. Most kids get in a routine, maybe they are working around other sports or commitments or siblings. But if you change it up week to week, that's totally fine. No signing up or notice of your weekly schedule required. |
| At MLK at the younger levels you can go to all of the practices or just the required ones. To get better and get plenty of coach attention you should plan to make most practices. Kids who just come once a week will not get the full program. |
+1 Agreed, at Germantown, we do 2 or 3 depending on what is happening at school. Sometimes you get sick and miss a week. Just let the coach know. But what's the point of going once a week, you are paying for the full program. You need to practice to get better. |
