| Has there been any movement? |
It might be helpful if you were more specific on which magnet program you were referring too? |
All of them! So many disappointed kids this spring all hoping for movement. Wondered if many of them got lucky? Specifically RM IB, Blair SMSC, Blair CAP, the two Wheaton magnets etc. |
We only applied to Blair. Child was waitlisted. They don't care at all. |
| Most of the movement is done in the spring, but some does usually happen in the summer, but not as much. |
| I heard of tons of students getting off the waitlist for elementary and for MS but not a single one for HS. DD has a lot of friends on the waitlists for the schools you listed. |
| You may see a little more movement right before school begins or in the weeks after but probably not for the big popular programs. |
| A friend recently got an offer for CAP. |
What program? |
| My kid turned down five programs to accept the Blair magnet. Someone else must have been offered those spots. |
Not necessarily…they over offer the number spots knowing not everyone will accept it. |
These programs have been around for a long time and they have gotten really good about estimating yield. I have heard of a number of kids who turned down RM for Blair but not one of many kids we know who are wait pooled for RM got off. |
| All the magnets overaccept except Blair. Surprised by how different (i.e. high) the acceptance numbers were for some of the other programs even though several expect a similar incoming class. |
| Stay on it until school starts. You will see more movements near there. |
| There has been movement. people just don't want to update. |
