Water Mine (Reston) on weekdays?

Haven’t been since before Covid. Is it still overrun on weekdays? Has anyone been this year? We would arrive early, before opening. Thanks.

Should have said: Madhouse by 12. It sure what is like at opening-12.

Madhouse mostly because it’s a popular day camp destination including ongoing camps at Lake Fairfax.

Is it better on weekends? Or madhouse them too. Debating whether it’s worth the drive from Alexandria (not OP)

OP here. That's what I remembered I think we will pass. Maybe we will go the week of 8/21 because FCPS goes back to school before we do.

They're closed mid-week once FCPS is back in school.^^

You'll find that a lot of places base their hours on FCPS.

I hate how there is never like, any time or place to go somewhere fun without it being overrun with mobs of people.

It’s not as bad as a weekend. Whatever you do, do not go on a weekend. Getting there before opening on a weekday is the key. You can easily find chairs under an umbrella then. There are a lot of day camps but they typically are out by 3 pm ish. They also sit in a special area away from the chairs and go through a different entrance.

Pack your own food and snacks to save money. This is one of the few water parks that allows you to bring your own in. Food at the Water Mine is ridiculously expensive. $8.50 for a small dip n dots pack. $10.75 for a mini pepperoni pizza (with 4 mini slices). They don’t sell by the slice anymore. And $11 and up for funnel cakes. $14.95 for chicken tenders and fries.

It's a madhouse, but the kids love it.

We went with a couple of families last week. It was wonderful. We all had the best time. We went on a weekday and bought tix in advance on the internet. We got a couple of chaises under an umbrella and shared. We took food and also bought a few things. The water was warm. The crowd was pleasant. Plenty of rafts on the lazy river. Lines were short and fast moving for the tall slides. They call mandatory breaks at 10 min to every hour. That was strange to us, but it all worked out. Parking was easy. The place started clearing out 2 hours before closing, so the lazy river was peaceful by the end. Definitely go during weekdays. We had a blast.
