We are going to lease a car for our nanny to use. Anything that we should think about? Do we need to add her to the insurance for the car? |
Most families just buy a used mini van. Yes add her to your insurance. |
Is this for use only while at work? If she can use it for personal use then IRS considers taxable. |
This is really lovely, thank you. My employers won’t even pay me mileage, so wanted to thank you for doing this. It means a lot. |
Refuse to use your vehicle and find a decent employer. |
Yes, you must add her as a driver to your insurance. Recommend you only have her use the vehicle during her working hours when your child(ren) are in the car. |
Any used car with sufficient room for the kids and their car seats/stuff will do. We have a Subaru Forester. |
Of course you need to add her to your insurance and make sure you have an eye good umbrella policy for when she crashes just in case she hits someone who likes to sue. |
That’s illegal. Keep track of your miles. It’s $0.655 per mile. It’s adds up very quickly. |
Wait are employers supposed to pay for the miles it takes to get to/from their house for work, or just pay for the miles you put on driving the kids to/from activities? |
Commuting from home to primary work location is employee's responsibility. If employeee has to drive far from home directly to different work sites, and doesn't drive to office/base first, it gets more complicated. |
Oh ok, thanks. The way PP had worded it about adding up quickly, I was wondering if employers were now paying mileage for nannies to get to/from work. |
