Is this discussed during sixth grade by teachers, like Sols? |
Are you asking if they teach kids how to do the things on it, or if they review/use the scores? |
If they tell the kids what it is and cover the material? |
I believe it is school dependent. Our school tells the kids about the test. I don’t know if they practice. |
The material has already been covered prior to 6th grade advanced math. The teachers are not expected to do any prep. Some do, many do not. |
Is it all in one sitting or spread out over several days? |
One sitting. RSM runs IAAT Prep Classes. I don’t know how frequently they run or the cost. I know there was one this summer and I am sure there will be more during the school year. We get the notifications because our child attends RSM and is heading into 6th grade. We choose not to send him and we don’t plan on doing any this year. I would rather he be placed based on what he does then because he learned the test. He does participate in math competitions so he is comfortable with completing questions quickly. These will be different types of problems so we will see. |
I would at least suggest you let him take a practice tests if he wants to familiarize himself with the style of the test. |
I strongly suspect that he will do that at RSM as part of their sixth grade curriculum. He is going to be taking the Pre-Algebra class, which is the normal progression at RSM for 6th graders. |
Is there a retake of IAAT? |
No. |
