Hi, looking for some advice. My daughter is 12, heading into 7th grade this fall. She pitches, and loves it, and I’m looking for a travel team that is not intense that will help develop her skills. We are in NW DC, so Montgomery County MD and NoVA are doable but we would prefer to stay closer to home. Any insight?

Not sure your definition of low key but look into: Clarksburg Crush, Green Wave, Maryland Fever, Freedom Firebirds, Olney Cougars, Damascus Yellow Jackets, Turn 2, Maryland Monarchs.
|
McLean Magic, Arlington Sage and Firebirds
I’ll add stingrays in Fairfax to the others listed. You are going to have to be geographically very flexible as at least on the Virginia side you are late to be looking. My daughter’s team and many others I know have already filled their rosters. Tryouts were early this year. There I’ll still be teams lookin for a girl or two for sure but you need to email around. Is your daughter a 2011 or 2010 bday?
OP here, thanks for all the helpful responses. She is a 2011 bday, to answer the last question. I also saw that I was “late to be looking,” which was a surprise to me for fall ball, but shows how much I know. When are tryouts typically held for fall and for spring?
Tryouts are held in June and July for the following year which starts in August.
Tryouts are being held right now and one more next weekend for the VA Stingrays.
A number of clubs have tryouts the first week of August, and the season starts in September. There is still time. Also, reach out directly to the coaches if you missed the tryouts already. They are always looking to add pitchers to their rosters.
