People watching Porn in Public Libraries!

I can't wrap my head that they just passed a law in VA that you have to sign in and take your picture to view porn, online at home and this is coming from someone who doesn't watch it. Then I read that people are allowed to watch in public libraries WITH KIDS AROUND AND THIS IS OK no laws against it at all:

I see the comment from a librarian about how it arguably violates the code of conduct and librarians could use that to put a stop to it. Seems unlikely to me that they wouldn't -- that they would just allow it, especially given how there are children in libraries.

It's a reddit thread, so not sure how up in arms to get about this / how much I believe it.

This is crazy I don't understand how watching porn in the library with children around is acceptable to anyone including the library and police department. This isn't ok and we should not be ok with it.

Libraries are public. So, perhaps a 1st Amendment issue? (FWIW, I absolutely do not think people should be accessing porn in libraries -- I'm just musing on why it might not be blocked.)

I think it’s a 1st amendment thing. You’re supposed to request a privacy screen of you’re going to watch it in the library. And obviously you can’t spank it in public.

It usually is, but things get through. People have others email them porn so they can get past any filters.

And the people who watch porn on public computers these days, definitely have a screw loose, so you have to be careful approaching them.

I disagree with porn being allowed in public places but I know it’s allowed. But regarding children being in the libraries, most children’s sections are not close to where the computers are. If a 4yo stumbles across an adult watching porn in a library it’s because the adult in charge of them isn’t watching.
As far as teens, they’re probably watching it on their personal screens if they want to anyway.

The problem is setting up computers such that people can peek at someone else's screen.
