What suit for club swim (5 year old)

What type of suit should I get my 5 year old daughter for club swim practice?

any are fine

A TYR or a Speedo, most likely in a size 20 if she’s small and 22 if she’s tall and muscular. Sometimes you can find an 18 but it isn’t easy. If the initial ones you try on are baggy, switch to the endurance fabric ones in the same size. Don’t buy a suit for her to grow into- it will drag and feel uncomfortable and also look ridiculous.

Is there a team suit? I would buy that in a size 20 or 22 depending on her size/build as PP noted. Trying them on at a swim shop will be helpful. It all suits fit the same. My son wears a 22 in TYR and someone handed us down a 22 Speedo. The Speedo was tiny and too small for him whereas the TYR fits perfectly.

At that age (I think?) my kids liked Sportis- super cheap on swim outlet!

My 10 year old still likes sportis! Cheap, lasts long, great suits.

How many days of club swim a week? I would get two suits per weekly practice - that’s a laundry thing, not based on anything else.

Sportis are great, not too expensive and you get lots of wear out of them. They were my DDs go to until Jolyns.

We've gotten good wear out of Dolfin Uglies, which come in fun prints and can be found on sale. They wash well and hold stretch for a long time.

Sporti is the hot brand for the 8Us at our winter pool. Kids like the patterns

Age 5 is very young for a year-round program. Any one piece suit is good for practices.

Dolfin Uglies run small.

Just check swimoutlet for training suits and pick a pattern she likes. There isn't necessarily one brand better than another unless your daughter is very picky about fit or has a body shape issue. I have one daughter who can wear any brand and a pear shaped daughter who only likes Waterpro.

Same for my DD…her Speedo training suits are one size larger than what she wears in Tyr/Arena/Jolyn. I’m a big fan of trying on. Sport Fair in Arlington and Metro Swim Shop in Fairfax are our go tos, and Cassell’s in Herndon has been helpful once or twice.
