Besides Amazon, where do you buy used books?

Anonymous
I have just started reading again and I am looking for some sites to buy used books from. I have bought some from Amazon sellers, but sometimes the prices seam a bit much like $10 for a book that is $16 new. Are there any other sites that sell used books that you can recommend?

Most public libraries have book sales on a regular basis. They usually have a great selection and unbeatable prices.

Also, look at alibris and abebooks. I think abebooks is owned by amazon but branded separatelyg.

Value Village in MD has a decent book section. I hate thrifting but go with my daughter. I always find a few good ones there.

McKay Used Books in Manassas is an excellent store with a big selection. I trade in my used books for store credits and buy new to me used books with the credits.

There are three thrift shops in my town. I go to at least one each month. All three have a large section of books ranging in price from 25 cents to $4.

Once I am done reading books I bought at the thrift shop, I write a little note to myself on the very last page (e.g. Larla read this July 2023) and then I return it to the thrift shop.

Love McKays - especially if you’re looking for classics for a course or school and also if you’re looking to fill in missing books from a series.
