Im looking into a new home daycare . The mom has a BA in ECE, special needs exp w/ Autism (still expecting myself, you never know), 10yrs exp (4yrs preschool teacher in NAEYC good school, former nanny, will teach some spanish, she has older and younger child so I feel she may know the ropes. She is on my way to work Ox Rd (Lorton/Fairfax Station) and there is a Starbucks right across street is nice
Anyways she is asking $230/week , she provides crib etc just not diapers and formula but is in USDA program so food will be included later. She has large fenced yard. She wants to keep ratio low maybe 3 kids unless one has an older school-age sibling. She does have back-up in case she sick. How much is everyone else paying? I saw a few others a little less but they had alot more kids. Would you pay a premium for less kids? |
| I pay 300 week (but in DC) for someone who is not as qualified on paper. I would make sure you know what the maximum ratio is, but sounds great to me. and yes, I would definitely pay a premium for smaller ratio. |
| when I was looking 2 years ago, all the in-homes I visited were charging $225-$250/week, vs. $290-$300 for the centers. Sounds like a good deal to me! Make sure she sticks to legal ratios or below; some providers find they aren't making enough with low ratios and accept more kids than you might be comfortable with. |
| I'd be willing to pay $230/week for what you descibe. That's what I paid in Alexandria (22306) and our provider was not a "qualified" on paper. |
| Absolutely sounds worth it. |
| Sounds good. With any home daycare, I would ask about TV viewing. |
| $230 is a very good price. |
Definitely. I pay $290 in the Alexandria section of FFX County, and she is not as qualified on paper and food is not included. |
| I didn't see a tv in the house. She has a lovely yard and has a whole bunch of musical toys and books. Her home looks very child friendly. She gave me a folder w/ her info , paperwork, and the contract. She seems to have it together. |
| We are expecting in April, do you happen to know if she has any openings coming up? |
| I pay 300 week, no food included, less formal training. I say that its unlikely you'll find much cheaper--not to mention she sounds great. |
|
that price sounds right. I am in fairfax county part of Alexandria and I charge $200-225 per week, which does include food.
If she has a permit with the county, she is allowed 5 children in her care. |
I live right near Ox Rd in Lorton and would LOVE LOVE LOVE to know who this is. I don't see anyone listed either on the state licensing site or the Infant/Toddler list that would fit this description. On the off-chance this person ever posts again, I would really appreciate a lead on this provider!!!! |
| This is a good price for day care around here no matter what you are getting. For someone who is offering extras (i.e. teaching Spanish), the price is amazing. |
| What hours do you get for $300/week? |
