PVS Zones

Does anyone have any info on Zones in terms of the travel details, how they are selecting events, etc etc?

Others have said $795 is expensive -- I actually disagree. It seems like a good deal for hotel rooms, travel expenses, meals and gear based on what would be spent if it was parent travel. However, I can't find details anywhere to understand what even the dates of travel are (do they leave Tuesday or Wednesday? Come back Saturday night after finals or Sunday morning? How many kids stay in a room? What is sickness policy? Who is my point of contact for my kid?) Shouldn't these details be available before we have to sign up and pay $795? Many of these kids have never done team travel because of COVID and this is a 14 and under meet, so fairly young kids. These sorts of broad details are not unreasonable to ask.

Not to mention, in previous years, kids were able to put forward times and preferences for what they want to swim. It would be great to understand the coaching plan.

I feel like there is so much missing perhaps I missed a document? I think this could be a great opportunity for kids and my kid wants to go. Am I totally off base?

Who are the chaperones would be another question.

I don’t think they would want to post all those details. They would probably just want to send those to the people going. Reach out to the coordinator.

We’re in VSI, but won’t do Zones this year. I don’t like that team travel is required even though the meet is close enough to us that it would not otherwise require a hotel stay. In past years my kid has gone it was not team travel. He has done team travel but only with our own team and I am not really comfortable having no idea who his chaperones or roommates would be. Also he is on his younger year in age group so while I’m sure he would enjoy it, probably would not have a full slate or place.

It sounds like we have not been given much more information than you on details. I agree your best bet is to email the coordinator.

I just looked at the Virginia website and it has a lot of the info I am seeking. I understand hotel details and chaperones names would be private but I don’t even know which day they leave for Richmond, lol.
