Are Brita water bottles a waste of money?

I am trying to cut back on drinking bottled water. I am reading mixed reviews online about the Brita water bottle from care of bottle (is a pain to take apart, clean, and put back together) to water tasting funny. What’s your experience?

It is much better to get a water filter/filtration system and just use a regular water bottle.

I’ve used an older version of the Brita water bottle for more than 5 years. I use it only at work because we have to fill our bottles from the tap. It’s easy to clean and simple to change the cartridge.

When I decided to stop buying water in plastic bottles I got a Brita pitcher. I've used them for years now, and they work well.
