Wegovy q’s

Anonymous
My doctor just gave me a prescription which hasn’t been filled yet. I spent far too much time on Reddit last night reading people talk about awful side effects. Have any of you on it not had side effects? Does it depend on your dosage? Feeling on the fence after reading those reports of side effects.

My other q is where you’re getting it filled, especially for the first dosage? Doc just called it into my normal Safeway pharmacy and it hasn’t been filled yet. I know there are reports of shortages. Thanks!

I’ve been on it for 6 months. Minimal side effects. Everyone is different. The drug slows digestion making you feel fuller longer. It also works on a chemical in the brain that signals hunger. As far as shortage, there may be trouble on the lower dosages as you titrate up. Just shop around to find it. I am on the highest dose and have no trouble through mail order rx program.
An unexpected side effect (benefit) is that it makes wine taste terrible. For me that’s a good thing.

Ooh. Any effect on other alcohol like beer or vodka?

I tried Rybelsus, which is the pill form of semaglutide. I couldn't handle the side effects and went off it pretty quickly -- nausea and diarrhea. YMMV with Wegovy.

There’s a shortage of the first three doses. Their website says through September. I was on it for two months and now can’t get my proper dose. Trying not to gain back the weight I lost that cost $2600. So annoyed.

Side effects weren’t awful for me but I only tried the two lowest doses.

The manufacturer has backorders for the lower doses everywhere. You are unlikely to find the lower dosages anywhere before August. The reports that I have heard suggest that the manufacturer will start to distribute larger volumes to pharmaceutical warehouses by the end of July and that those will make it to the pharmacies within a few days.

But, get your prescriptions in because from what I understand the orders will be filled based on the original prescription submission times, so that those that have gone in earlier, will get filled earlier.

I haven’t had any side effects that I’ve noticed. My doctor’s plan is to have me stay at each dose until it seems like it’s not as effective anymore, so I did 3 months at .25 and am about to move up to .5 - we’ll see how that goes.

I’ve just gotten it filled at my regular Walgreens. There was one refill that was delayed by about 10 days, but otherwise no issues.

I'm glad the hear you can do that! I'm on the lowest dose and it is working perfectly in terms of managing my appetite with no major side effects; that said, I could envision how a higher dose might make me feel. I want to stay at the low dose for as long as possible.

7 months here, down 30 pounds and ZERO side effects. Like I kept waiting for them at every increased dose and their have been none (am on the highest dose now).

I've suggested this before, and have gotten flamed for it, but try a pharmacy in a neighborhood that is not socio-economically well-off. I've done this and have never had a problem filing my rx, even back in January/February at the lower doses

I’ve tried but still nothing under 1.7

I've been on it for 4 months now and lost 16 pounds.
My family says that the day of the shot, I get very grumpy afterward. It also makes me tired. So now I take it on Saturday evening, about 2 hours before bed & sleep off the worst of my side effects. A little nauseous during the first part of the week or on a new dose, but it wears off by the end of the week.

Ah! I get this too! The day after I'm super cranky and tired.

I have not had any bad side effects, and I had to jump from 0.5 to 1.7 because of the shortage. Still nothing terrible. I also have not had the amazing drastic weight loss some of the people with terrible side effects are having, though. Down ~15 lbs in 3 months.

Envious. My doctor wouldn’t let me do that jump.
