Pls recommend SLAC for 4.0 GPA, 34 ACT

Looking for high targets to reaches. (Possibly of ED if offered at the school) Not west coast, preferably nearish a decent town/city & airport.
DS's private high school does not have enough data to gauge the admissions stats for these schools.
The rest of the college app will be fairly average for this area (decent mix of activities, nothing truly outstanding);
assume good essay and recs (not spectacular).
DS doesn't seem to have preferences about colleges yet so I'd like to pick several to visit.

What are you paying for if the school can’t help you?

What matters is how these stats situate him in his school cohort. How could his school not have data? They should certainly have data on where kids with his stats typically go.

Is the 4.0 weighted or unweighted?

He has NO preferences: large or small, urban or rural, heavy greek culture or not? Strength in a particular major?

It sounds like he is just not focusing on the process. Take him on some visits, to nearby schools with the goal of him JUST setting a few parameters.

Good stats, but there will be no SLAC your DC will get into without going ED.

That’s untrue, unless you’re taking a very narrow view of the S in SLAC.

None are out of the question, but some like Williams and Amherst are high reaches for almost all.

ED Colorado College if you can afford full pay.

I know Trinity in CT gets bashed a lot here, but my sister had a great experience there and was accepted to multiple grad Ivy + top state programs in STEM (she ended up PhD). Also outcomes of her classmates were great. Seems like a good safety/target for you.

Davidson - My DC was accepted ED (we aren't full pay) with similar stats. 34 ACT and a 4.3 GPA.

If the school is smaller, there may not be enough students who have applied in the past few years to offer useful acceptance stats.

What does he want to study ?

Any thoughts about a career ?

Why does he or why do you want an SLAC ? (Might reveal some preferences & concerns.)
