Did you ever get any official notice? We’ve discussed wit DC and he wants to pursue so presumably we don’t need to do anything. However, I thought we would have at least gotten an email or letter stating he qualified snd we have until X date to opt out. I know some families are on the fence so I’m wondering if it’s too late for them? |
Well my DC did not qualify but we did receive an email from the middle school, stating that they were screened but did not qualify. That was probably the last week of school. I imagine they would have a similar email notifying you if your DC qualified. |
Thanks. The only emails we’ve gotten were related to electives and orientation/shifting gears. |
I got an email this week on Wednesday. I pasted it below. Weirdly, the Course Request section of ParentVUE is gone so I can't confirm as they suggeste...
Dear Parents/Guardians, Based on FCPS criteria, your student qualifies to take Algebra 1 Honors in Grade 7 and they have been placed in that math course. You may confirm this placement by logging onto StudentVUE or ParentVUE and selecting ‘Course Requests’. If you wish for your student to remain enrolled in Math 7 Honors instead, complete this form by Monday, July 24, 2023. Yes, my DS's middle school sent an email in June saying all information about that. Also, set July 7 is the last day that we can opt out if we want. (by emailing back to the school) |
My DS is qualified but I haven’t received any email from the middle school yet. I remembered the SIS/ Parentvue change the Math 7 HN to Algebra HN last month but the selections courses section has gone in the ParentVue now. |
Same. It was really buried in a larger general email that very easily could have been overlooked. |
I also got an opt out email from my MS’s guidance counselor. No action meant he stayed in. |
When did you receive it? Which MS? |
Kilmer MS? So, like everything else in FCPS the communication is largely dependent on what school/principal you have. Great. |
