| He has destroyed the sofa and now turned his attention to the rug. |
| Keep its nails trimmed. |
| No way. I think it’s illegal. Get tall scratching posts. My cats also like the cardboard ones on the ground. |
| Only if you cut all your fingers and nails off at your knuckle, same thing! |
What a little mastermind. Sounds like he needs better supervision and training, not mutilation. |
| You shouldn’t own cats. |
|
If you don’t want this cat, find someone who does rather than torture him.
Also, declawed cats are often stressed and pee on everything and is much rather have a clawed up carpet than one that smells of cat pee. One of my cats destroys my carpets when he’s bored. If you’re going to let this cat, try to find toys your cat likes and play with him regularly (at least 10 minutes a day). |
| I got a cat tower and sprinkle catnip on it. The cats go bananas on it. They still pick at the recliner or a rug occasionally, but this tower gets 95% of their attention. |
| The cat is bored. That’s why it’s destroying things. It gave itself an activity. If you can’t keep it entertained please rehome the cat rather that mutilate it. |

We had to change couches (in addition to putting up scratching posts) bc of persistent scratching-it was find snd worth it!
Having said that we once had a cat (separated from its mom too early bc of illness then adopted very young by us) that we did do the laser declaw at rec of vet bc he apparently didn’t learn at the critical period abt scratching etiquette (for example, he consistently tried to scratch people’s eyelashes including the vet.) I know, I know, you all think I’m a monster who should never be allowed the privilege of a pet but I didn’t take it lightly, the vet is the one who raised it, and he was a wonderful happy cat with no subsequent behavioral issues/peeing everywhere. |
Pretty much. |
I followed the advice of his vet but your disapproval has been noted! |

This is the tower. It was cheap and it has defied the laws of physics by surviving for over a year. |
Hmmm I wonder if my ceiling is sturdy enough for that. I suspect my cats would adore it and my toddlers would be able to climb it. (Not OP.) |
| My cats clads were removed,. |
