Drivers Ed class and BTW recommendations needed - VA

Anonymous
We are near McLean/Vienna in VA and my kid is taking online PE. I’m looking at all of the options for drivers ed. I think we have to attend a 90 min presentation and only see those offered through FCPS.

Did you use one of the many private companies or do it all through the ACE classes? Any advice is welcome.

If he’s taking PE through the FCPS online campus, you’ll need to attend the 90 minute PSTD presentation with him in order for him to get his pink card at the end of the course. He’ll need that to start BTW. I used ACE for both of my kids and had no complaints.

If he’s doing Virtual Virginia and won’t get the classroom portion of drivers Ed, I think people sign up for that through VADETS. Hopefully someone whose kid went that route can chime in with more information.

He’s not getting the classroom portion of drivers Ed, we need to find our own program. I see there is one through VADETS but then a lot through private companies. I didn’t know if there was any advantage in using the same company for BTW as the online component for those who have BTDT. Thanks.

For 2 kids, we did IDriveSmart that was fabulous. We'll do it with our 3rd when he's ready.

VADETS is what our counselor recommended for the classroom part of drivers ed and it has been fine.
