| I'll be in Detroit for about 36 hours later this month, What are some good places to eat? We eat tons of Asian food here so I'm looking for something different. We are all big Greek fans. |
| Slows BBq is worth a visit (ok I know you said Greek but I couldn't recall the places I've been in Greektown-&they were excellent -- just having a bad memory right now!) |
I'll take BBQ too! Thanks |

Pegasus Taverna is the Greektown restaurant I've been to...it's been there for a long time! Astoria Bakery is right down the street and also tasty.
Seva has interesting vegetarian food, too. And Shields for pizza! Now I want to go to Detroit...and I haven't even gotten to Polish food in Hamtramck or Middle Eastern in Dearborn... |

You will not find a lot of Asian restaurants in Detroit, or at least the food will not be super...recognizable. (E.g. Detroit is home to a restaurant called Asian Corned Beef, which sells corned beef stuffed egg rolls.)
I agree with Slow's BBQ. For pizza, I love Sgt. Pepperoni's, located in the Garden Bowl (a combination bowling alley/nightclub/restaurant). Personally I think Greektown is kind of a yucky casino area. I'd get Lebanese food instead at Al-Ameer in Dearborn. (Btw Detroit has the best fresh pita bread ever, the grocery stores get fresh pita delivered every day, warm, freshly baked, so good.) You also might like Cadieux Cafe, go bowling and eat Belgian food. Eastern Market on a saturday or sunday (giant farmer's market/flea market/food stalls) is a must in good weather. A lot of people like Sister Pie in West Village, I find it somewhat pretentious but, if you like pie, I must grudgingly admit their pie is very good. Red Hook Coffee is in the same neighborhood and it's great coffee. Not in Detroit but right up the road in Ferndale, there is New York Bagel (that's its name) are the best bagels I've ever eaten. Get the Reuben bagel. Also Detroit has a fantastic coffee culture (probably bc of the long winters) so that's something else to enjoy. |

Is ignorance bliss? |
You would know. |
These are good tips. Dearborn has great Lebanese and Yemeni food. Hamtramck for Polish. Buddy’s for greasy Detroit-style pizza. The Whitney for a nice garden and ghosts. |
Second Buddy's |
| Depends on how far you want to travel. Are you Ubering or renting a car? SE MI had the best Arab food in NA, hands down. You can visit Noble Fish for sushi, or a place along John R. For variants Asian dishes. Slows is good, and Andiamo, Roma Cafe, or SheWolf for Italian. The Apparatus Room at the Foundation Hotel in the old DFD HQ is a hit. |
Roma Cafe is great! |
See, that's a dumb answer even for my 8yo. |
I came here to say Slows! Best barbecue I've ever had. |
Arab food in the Detroit suburbs is SO GOOD. It's like being overseas. |
