| Looking at Amazon prime day deals and considering this, esp for lower legs and bikini area. Is it worth it, which brand/model? |
| Interested in this as well! |
| I have the braun (silk pro maybe? I forget). I have relatively light hair (was blonde as a kid and still think of myself as a dark blonde but tbh it’s probably closer to brown), which isn’t ideal for any kind of laser, but it’s worked pretty well. Bikini line has actually been the least effective/required more touchups. I also did armpit and legs, which seem to last more. I would give it 8/10 stars; much less shaving required, and so easy to do at home vs going somewhere. |
Thanks - how frequently did you use it to get to that point? |
Do you mean this one? It's the Braun Silk Expert Pro 5 PL5137 https://www.amazon.com/Braun-Removal-Long-lasting-Reduction-Regrowth/dp/B07WYY6KKC/ On sale right now ($294) and I've had my eye on it. |
| The Tria 4X. Don't expect it to be pain free like the IPL devices though. It's an actual laser. |
Yes, that’s the one! I got it about a year ago; I used it a few times a week (I forget what it recommends, maybe every 3-5 days?) at first, barely used it all winter, and then started maybe every every other week (or less) this summer. |
I have this one as well and it's amazing. Totally life changing, in the sense that not having to shave daily during shorts season is life changing. Couldn't recommend more highly! |
What's that versus this? https://www.amazon.com/Braun-PL5157-Permanent-Reduction-Alternative/dp/B09WG9R7MY?ref_=ast_sto_dp |
The PL5157 has two different caps, one standard and one precision. |
I never used the precision cap, just the wide one for legs, bikini, underarms, and upper lip. And I would check that the strength of the pulse is the same between models. |
| As an aside, all of these devices are epilators (get rid of surface hair) based on IPL technology. They do not in any way cause long-term hair reduction like actual laser hair removal with high powered lasers. Good if you don't want to shave or wax. |
NP. This is the one I have. I have very light skin and very dark hair and I have hirsutism, so I basically bought it for my face. I still have facial hair but I don’t have the same dark “patches” from hairs yet to emerge, and the hairs are few enough that I can pluck them. I was really inconsistent with my legs but it seems half-ish of my leg hair is gone. Not a laser, but exactly what I needed. |
Lol. |
Epilators (and waxing) hurt like h*ll, give me terrible ingrown hairs, and have to be done every few weeks. My IPL was painless and the results have lasted for months so far. Plus I can do it on my schedule, at home. If my at home IPL saves me thousands, I'm more than happy to do a session every month or two for the next year to keep the results up. YMMV. |
