SACC at AAP Center

If you want your child to get into SACC at the AAP center school at the beginning of third grade, how far in advance should you get on the waitlist? Assume a school with a 9:20 AM start.

Depending on school. Our school (center) needs at least an year long waitlist.

We are at a center school (Haycock). I got DS on the waitlist a year before he started K and he got into SACC at Haycock in 2nd grade. Based on that, I'd get him on the waitlist at the center school in 1st.

That said, if your base school has a shorter waitlist, your child can go to SACC there and get bussed to the center. We actually sent DS to SACC at Chesterbrook in 1st grade and he was bussed back to Haycock.

One year in advance.

Depends on the school: some have more turnover. Also, at later stating schools, morning SACC has more interested families.

Ours took about a year.

IIRC think our Center school doesn't take kids who don't reside in the zoned area - all the kids I know who go to the center still go to SACC at the base.

You don't have a choice. SACC registration isn't open a year in advance anymore. I think it's more like six months. Just get your name on the list as soon as it opens for the school you're interested in.

Also, double check that you can even do SACC at your non base school. I was under the impression you just had to go to base school and get transported over by bus.

+1

DS does SACC at our base school and it's actually been a great way for him to maintain relationships with friends who didn't leave for the center. Plus drop-off and pick-up are much more convenient.

SACC is at the base school.

Not sure about that... We're at SACC on base school right now, but we're also on wait list for SACC at the center school. You should have an option.

I seem to recall being able to get onto up to 3 SACC waiting lists. We're at a center school so I put my kid on that waitlist plus 2 more that bus kids to our school for AAP. I would recommend to OP that you get your kid on the list for the base school and the center school (and maybe even a 3rd school that buses to the center if the lists are long).

Your kid can get bussed to SACC at their base school.

Just get on the waitlist asap. Our 920 start school’s morning SACC list never moves. PM is faster because not as many people need it with such a late end time. I know multiple people whose kids do SACC at their base school and get bussed to or from there to the AAP center.

Wow, that’s not consistent across the county. My DS definitely attends SACC at the aap center.

How does this work? Do we need to drop kid at the base in morning if dropping early?
