s/o: hairstyle ideas for frumpsters?

Anonymous
S/O from the looking bad thread...

On some days I certainly fall into the frump category. I definitely need a new hairstyle for my partially gray (no, I'm not going to color it), wavy, thick hair. I have long layers (which my stylist usually recommends whenever I ask for a new style), but I end up wearing it up in some sort of ponytail almost every day. It is really thick so it just gets way too hot to wear it down. Plus I don't always have the time to blowdry/straighten it into a decent style.

Soooooo...for those with the style savvy...have some pity...what style (or stylist?) would you recommend? Please help defrump me! I need some suggestions, please!!

can you make your hair curlier? maybe you could try a little mousse (too much can get crunchy) in damp hair and scrunch it to bring out the wave. try not to brush or comb it much because it will knock out the curl.

Your hair is thick! (green with envy)

1. A different hair accessory? A sleek or curly bob instead of a ponytail?

2. Keep the layers but wear them short (at least above the chin), unless you have a really round/square face

I saw something about hair on t.v. while getting ready this AM - thick hair takes mousse/gel and thin hair takes spray - I believe. Anyone else see this?

Oh no, NOT the bob! Certainly not that asymmetrical thing!

If you insist on keeping the grey, there is a limit to how hip you will be able to look, just my opinion.

I too have very thick hair, and my stylist layers the heck out of it. She can always add more layers. A modern, layered bob would probably look good. As one PP mentioned, don't go too short if you have a round face.

What if you have a GIGANTIC head?

Long hair is so much easier than short hair. Don't cut OP.
