If you child goes/went to Burgundy Farm...

where did they go to preschool? I live near the school and am having a hard time finding a preschool that I like. She is 1 1/2 now, and I would really like to have her go somewhere for a few hours a day starting next fall, or possibly even this spring. (Right now she has a FT nanny who cares for her and our DS.) Are there any good schools like in the area? Also, does BF have feeder schools? Any advice would be much appreciated.

It's not terribly close to BF, but I think St Luke's Episcopal in Hollin Hills has a preschool program.

Aldersgate Methodist, St Aidan's, Mt. Vernon Weekday School.

I have a friend who says Frog Pond Learning Center is a good prep for Burgundy Farm. Just what I've been told, no first hand knowledge.

I second the Frog Pond suggestion ... my friend says it is "mini-Burgundy"!!

I can think of current Burgundy kids who went to Tauxemont Preschool and the Meeting House Preschool. Also quite a few who attended various day cares because both parents work.

Our kids went to the Meeting House preschool. One then went on to the half-day kindergarten program at St. Paul's. St. Paul's is much more focused on St. Stephen's and Alexandria Country Day School -- they thought we were crazy for wanting to go to Burgundy. This was years ago, however.

We just went to our local unknown 3-day, part time preschool. I think which school you come from is much less important than whether you see your child as a fit for Burgundy, and Burgundy sees your child as having:
-age-appropriate social skills which will allow him/her to get along in whole group, and small group, and individualized learning situations
- be curious and interested in exploring and learning.
Kindness, creativity and intelligence are valued (in no particular order). Appreciation for the great outdoors, too, especially in Early Childhood.

Burgundy parent here. No real feeder schools but we knew many who sent their kids to Meeting House. Ours came from Montessori. Kids really from all over. I wouldn't sweat it as labels don't mean a thing at Burgundy.

19:44 again. Realize I misread your post. You are looking for preschool recs. The Burgundy AD can not recommend preschools (that would be unprofessional) but she might be able to give you a list of those in commuting distance, which seems to be what you are looking for. Wouldn't hurt to ask...

Yes, this one was recommened to me also for entrance to Burgundy Farm.

Also, Burgundy is considering expanding their programs to include something for 3 yr olds in the coming years.

Thanks 11:41/19:44, that is what I am looking for. I'm less concerned about a "feeder school" per se, than a local school that shares the same philosophy as BF, and has a 3s program.

To this point, 11:59, how exciting. You don't happen to know what the timeframe for something like this might be?

Appreciate everyone's responses very much.

My kids went to Old Town Montessori School before Burgundy. We know several other Burgundy families from OTMS.
