10 AM check out times at Airbnb, 11 am hotel check outs, what happened to 12 pm checkout? When did check out time get so early? Just a vent. |
A friend is renting a beach house this week and checkout is at 9 am! |
Check out time has always been either 10am or noon for as long as I can remember, wherever I’ve stayed. Hotels usually closer to noon, rental houses almost always 10am. |
Because our cleaning people have to clean 2 houses between someone checking out and the next person checking in. Everyone wants a late checkout, AND an early check in. Don’t know how you all think the cleaners can do their jobs. |
With check out time at 10 am it’s no wonder that “everyone wants a late checkout”, with a whole family to pack, food to pack, and a list of “to do’s” left by the owners. |
Check out time is 9 am in Rehoboth. Another reason not to go there.

I think 10AM is reasonable but when they have an entire list of things for you to do - strip sheets, start laundry, load dishwasher, take out trash, etc. then it is really tight. |
One of the many reasons I only stay in hotels (no airbnb). On departure day, we want to get up and go - not interested in having to strip beds, empty trash and fridge, start laundry etc. before 10 AM. At a hotel we just pack up the night before, get up and go. |
The Lingo one annoys me because it's one of those Covid-driven changes (to allow for extra cleaning time) that they just never dialed back. |
that’s just if you book through Jack Lingo. Private Vrbos/Airbnb’s might be different. Ours is 10am. |
then maybe you need more cleaning people. |
Oh wow! Clean outside grill and shower!!! The todo list in the link alone needs half day of work. |
For a 9 am check out time, you might as well leave the night before with all the cleaning, including stripping of linens you have to do. But then, you are paying for another night when you don't actually stay at the place.
Also, Lingo used to have check in (or wait in line on hot Rehoboth Ave.) at 2 pm and also changed that time during the pandemic. |
+1 If a house requires me to do a bunch of cleaning, they should need less turnover time. If I’m doing laundry, trash, and dishes, give me until noon and your cleaning people will still have 3-4 hours before check-in, plus less to do. But I’m at the point with house rentals that I don’t want to stay if I’m going to be expected to do more than take out the trash and put dishes in the dishwasher. When I’m paying a cleaning fee, why the hell am I also stripping sheets, washing towels, squeegeeing the shower, and whatever else? Especially after a stay of only 2-3 days? Just no. Some hotels have kitchens and separate bedrooms, which is the main thing I like about house rentals. And they clean daily, and all you have to do is leave a tip for housekeeping. |
Agree, but I typically have no problems getting late checkout upon request. Ask! |
