I saw this article and don't know anything about this issue. Is this real and legitimate? Or fringe stuff?

Why everyone is looking the other way for years now is beyond belief. I’m glad to see Vietnam is pushing back at least — see Barbie movie re: Chinese versus Vietnamese sovereign borders. And western nations have let China gain influence in Africa and elsewhere unchallenged. USA is not perfect but China is not know for allowing people (or governments) have personal freedoms. We have stood by and watched them build a big Red Iron Curtain.
