Other Driver at Fault - Do I have a Deadline to be Reimbursed

Another driver "doored" my car as I drove past him; his insurance admits fault. There was minor body damage (dent and chipped paint). Is there a deadline by when the other driver's insurance will not pay the claim?

(I have been busy and the damage was cosmetic but I'm probably going to sell the car soon.)

What state are you in? There is a statute of limitations and it depends on where the at fault party resides.

I'm DC; other car had Maryland plates and I believe the driver had a MD license.
