| Are there statistics on legacy admissions to GU? This was the first school I thought of after hearing about the SC decision. |
| How would this be the first school you thought of after the Supreme Court decision? |

8 years ago, legacy applicants were more than twice as likely to be accepted.

| Is legacy a parent only? Grandparent? For grad school (by the grandparent), too? I’m finding conflicting info. |
X100000 No sense. |
The Georgetown admissions director has been clear on repeated occasions that they look for not only legacy, but legacies who contribute $$. He's made it clear that they look at parents' tendencies to donate to Georgetown before giving a tip to their child. (Other schools probably also do this, but Georgetown is fairly vocal about it.) |
| Know a legacy who was a subpar student at a price, did freshman year at another university, and transferred in sophomore year. Parent engaged alumni/donor and kid's older sibling who was qualified also attended. I think they care but it makes sense. Helps improve yield without them having early decision. |

| My spouse and I are both GU grads, but we aren't donors, so I'm guessing it wouldn't mean much for our kid, but maybe I'm wrong. (Not that it matters; kid doesn't want to go to school where mom and dad went.) |
It is obvious living in this area. There are families where parents went to GU and therefore all the kids go. It seems very obvious in this area. |
Not cool GU. |
This is true of every school, not sure why OP is singling out one school, unless OP was not accepted (which is likely). |
I could have written this myself! Same same same. |
| Legacy preferences won’t be around much longer, folks. Better focus on sports. |

The lawsuits filed this week were addressing white legacies at Harvard.
Hopkins already did away with legacy - my lucky kids…not. |
