| I am traveling with my dog and he is holding his urine to mark territory. I’m surprised given he is in him mid teens but that’s what he’s doing. We are staying at an Airbnb and he has taken it upon himself to mark every lawn chair, planter, mailbox, bush etc he can. He is holding his urine to accomplish this. How can you stop this to get them to go all at once? |
| Hard to teach a 15 year old dog new tricks. |
| well, did you have him fixed? They will stop marking if you do that. |
Not always. My male dog tends to do this. He's never not on a leash outside, and I pull him away from things I don't want him to mark. |
| Just take him on a long walk. |
| You can't. It is in their nature. |
He was fixed at 6 months old so about 15 years ago. |

Take him back to familiar territory and he'll mark less.
Your dog is socializing with the locals. Good for him! |
| My girl dog does this. So annoying. She’s an alpha so maybe that’s why. |
No such thing. https://www.rover.com/blog/alpha-dog-meaning/ |
