DH is working for Pfizer. I will work from home. We will rent a one bedroom and save $$ for a house. Can anyone recommend a community? We do not know the area at all. Thanks, |
Not worried about schools now at all. |
You mean a neighborhood?
Good luck finding community. CT is not friendly. |
Town, neighborhood, complex...a place to live. |
I'd love to move back to CT but do not know that area. |
I don't know that area very well but hear good things about Madison. Probably best to contact a real estate agent who knows the area. |
Find out where other Pfizer people live. You can't afford where the Boss lives, but know where that is |
So far he has only dealt with HR. |
New London proper is not the place to be. I assume you just said New London, the county. Groton is where you should be searching if you want to be close to Pfizer. Or try this new complex in Griswold ~ 20 miles from Pfizer office. 2 BR starting at $1,800
From website: Half a mile from Exit 22 on RT 395. Minutes from gas & convenience stores, Lisbon Landing-Shopping Mall featuring: Walmart, Home Depot, Panera Bread, ULTA, Aldi, Target, Kohls, Anytime Fitness, Petco, & more! Walking distance to the Griswold Educational Complex and a short ride south to Norwich, the Casinos, Groton Sub Base, Pfizer or Electric Boat. Likewise, just a short ride north to Putnam or the Massachusetts state border. If you are looking for a 2 or 3 bedroom luxury apartment in New London County, this is a must see! https://www.pleasantviewestatesapartments.com/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwwISlBhD6ARIsAESAmp7lc5LDCWJMowqWkydlWvZndjcqzDAo1uw3l941oZLuGJLQSRlEOLMaAnVUEALw_wcB |
Thank you, 20 miles sees far away but maybe Groton is more of a commuter destination then we imagined. |
Where exactly is is office? |
Is there more than one Pfizer location in Groton? |
There are a lot of rentals in and around Groton due to the military presence there, so you should be able to find something close by. Other communities to consider: the Lymes (Old Lyme, Lyme, East Lyme), Stonington, Ledyard
Plenty of people commute from New Haven area - Madison, Guilford, Branford - but they probably live in those towns for the schools |
Groton Long Point, or Mystic or Stonington. Those are all close and nice places. I used to live there and work for Pfizer. Don't listen to the PPs who say people in CT aren't friendly.
You'll meet people just fine, and the Navy base is a fraction of the size it used to be, so it's not like the area is swarming with military personnel. The base has 7500 people (incl permanent civilian employees). For comparison, Norfolk has roughly 150,000. But I digress. I wouldn't recommend living too far away, long commutes always stink. |
Why isn't is friendly? In what ways? |
